DSM4Islands Project : Kick-off and Progress Meeting

We are excited to announce the successful kick-off and the recent three-day project meeting of DSM4Islands, a collaborative initiative aimed at optimizing energy use and promoting sustainability in island power systems through Demand-Side Management (DSM). The project officially began with an enthusiastic kick-off meeting where our team had the opportunity to meet and engage with leading industry partners and research institutions, including Energynautics GmbH, Exalto Energy & Innovation, University of Cyprus, Università degli Studi di Palermo, and EPL Technology Frontiers.

Progress Meeting

Following this, the consortium convened at the University of Cyprus for an intensive three-day meeting. The first day featured opening remarks from Dr. Venizelos Efthymiou (EPL), Prof. George Georghiou (UCY), and Dr. Thomas Ackermann (ENA), along with partner activity presentations, relevant case studies, and techno-economic analysis of the project. The day was rounded out by a productive open discussion among the partner representatives, with closing remarks by Dr. Efthymiou setting the scene for Day 2 .

DSM4Islands aims to develop innovative DSM solutions that enhance the integration and reliable operation of Variable Renewable Energy (VRE) in islanded power systems across diverse geographies and climates. This dynamic CETPartnership consortium brings together expertise from leading private companies and top research institutions, working towards a sustainable energy future.

The project is funded by the CETPartnership under Joint Call 2023 and co-funded by the European Commission, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, the Republic of Cyprus, and the European Regional Development Fund through the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation.
